Research

The Center’s main research revolves around understanding the nature of scientific and medical evidence and decision-making. Our key interests lie in the area of evidence-based medicine, which includes comparative effectiveness research, decision-analysis and decision making, prognostication, clinical reasoning, systematic reviews and meta-analysis, ethics of clinical trials, practice guidelines, outcomes research, and the discovery process in (randomized) clinical trials. We have extensively published and taught on these subjects. In particular, the members of the center have jointly published more than 200 papers in peer-review journals, 200 abstracts, 50 book chapters, and 2 books. Acting as a Division of Evidence-based Medicine, we are responsible for development of curriculum in EBM for medical students at the USF. We are actively organizing the faculty development courses related to clinical research methods. The center is engaged in a sponsored research program dedicated to improving healthcare through evidence-based decision making.  Our research has been funded by public and private entities including NIH and DOD.
