Dr. David V. Sheehan, Emeritus Professor, Distinguished University Health Professor. Dr. Sheehan was the former Director of the Depression and Anxiety Disorders Research Institute until his retirement in December 2010.  He continues to collaborate with our Institute as an Emeritus Professor. He is one of the world's top thought leaders and researchers in the anxiety and mood disorders. Dr. Sheehan received his medical degree from the National University of Ireland. He subsequently completed his general psychiatry residency at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and Harvard Medical School. Before joining the USF College of Medicine in 1985, he served on the faculty of the Harvard Medical School Department of Psychiatry for 12 years. Dr. Sheehan is the author of many widely used scales in psychiatry and has authored more than 250 publications and over 550 abstracts.  He is a member of the American College of Psychiatrists and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
