National Primary
Care Week
National Primary Care Week (NPCW) is an annual event to highlight the importance of primary care and bring health care professionals together to discuss and learn about generalist and interdisciplinary health care, particularly its impact on and importance to underserved populations. NPCW aims to focus the attention of health professional students from all disciplines on the failure of the healthcare system to provide equal, high quality health care to all individuals, regardless of ethnicity, race and other factors, and to provide students with the tools to address these inequalities. Participate in NPCW 2007- Community-Based Primary Care: Promoting Justice in Health, held from October 8 to October 12, 2007 at the College of Public Health!

Flu Shot Drive
In November of 2003, the University of South Florida , College of Public Health held its annual Flu Shot Giveaway event to the public to ward off the effects of influenza during the flu season. We were able to administer approximately 1250 free vaccines in a single business day. It was made available to members of the wider Tampa Bay community, including the underserved and elderly individuals - those who are more susceptible to illness - and USF staff, faculty, and students.
For this to have been possible, we had many business establishments
contribute items and services such as food, utensils, medical
supplies, copy services, and advertising. We, The Public Health
Student Association, would like to thank those community partners
for their contributions. It would not have been possible for
us to carry out such a monumental task without the support of
the following sponsors: St. Joseph's Hospital, All Children's
Hospital, UMSA Medical Clinic, University Community Hospital,
Win-Dixie, Kash n' Karry, Wal-mart, Dunkin' Donuts, Krespy Kreme,
Einstein Bagels, Wendy's, Burger King, McDonald's, Publix, Temple
Terrace news, The Tampa Tribune, Fox 13 News, and HSC public
relations . Also, we cannot forget to acknowledge the volunteers
for their involvement and dedication to ensuring that the giveaway
touched many. The students, faculty, and staff from each college
( Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing ) did such a
phenomenal job at running the show!
“Don’t forget to mark your calendars for October 19th, 2007, for this year's Flu Shot Drive at the USF College of Public Health! We have high hopes that this year’s drive will be the best yet, and we look forward to a continued relationship with our community partners and volunteers. If there are any questions about this event, please do not hesitate to contact us.”
