Online MPH - Public Health Administration
Master of Public Health Administration focuses on the financing, organization and delivery of public and private health services and the development and implementation of public health policy. The Online MPH in Public Health Administration program is designed for individuals interested in pursuing leadership or administrative positions in:
- Public health agencies;
- Local, state and federal government agencies that pay for and/or organize health care;
- Non-profit health agencies; and/or
- Health care organizations that provide direct care.
The curriculum centers on management principles and methods to advance the health of communities. Students develop knowledge and skills in planning and evaluation, law and policy, quality and performance improvement and financial management. Program graduates fill many roles – from consultants and government analysts to middle-management and executive positions.
The required core courses address core public health topics: epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, health policy and management, and social and behavioral health. More advanced courses prepare students to work with finances, planning and data sets. Electives allow a student to develop specialized knowledge in an area of interest.
Towards the end of the program, a ‘field experience’ is required during which a real-life project requiring planning or management takes place under the supervision of the faculty advisor and a health care professional in a non-classroom setting. Each student will design, carry out and report on a project in their interest area.
The program may be completed on a full or part-time basis.
