Filmed at the USF College of Public Health, these Family-Centered Care Seminars consist of several interactive presentations by multiple speakers on the history of family-centered care and where it is heading, experiences working for organizations that offer family-centered medical services, and firsthand experiences of families. Participants develop a greater understanding of and committment to the elements of family-centered care.
Cultural Competency Seminars Video Presentations
Filmed at the USF College of Public Health, the Cultural Competency Seminars consisted of several interactive presentations by multiple speakers on topics related to culture, why it is important, and how cultural competency can be achieved. The seminar also presented useful information on cultural competence in specific population groups, including ethnic groups and person with disabilities.

Michael Lu: Annual Lawton Chiles Lecture on Matrenal and Child Health In America
Dr. Lu joined the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as their Associate Administrator of Maternal and Child Health in 2011. The mission of his Bureau is “to provide leadership, in partnership with key stakeholders, to improve the physical and mental health, safety and well-being of mothers, children and families.” Before joining the HRSA, Dr. Lu already was recognized as a leading authority in MCH research, practice and policy.
Maternal and Child Health in a Remote Himalayan Mountain Setting: Issues and Challenges
Dr. Ista Pulu visited from Roing, India, where he is the only OB/GYN for a region serving 25 tribal villages. The area which Dr. Pulu serves is a large moun-tainous region with almost impassable terrain and poor resources. He is also part of an international collaboration between USF and the Research Institute of World's Ancient Traditions Cultures and Heritage (RIWATCH). He is gave a presentation about Maternal and Child health challenges in a remote Him-alayan mountain setting.
