Careers in healthcare include opportunities from insurance agencies and payer organizations, to governmental agencies, research and consulting companies, public health departments and voluntary health agencies.
The Department of Health Policy and Management is committed to the professional development of its students. In addition to coursework including the field experience, a guest speaker seminar series, Healthcare Management Student Association (HMSA), and the Alumni Mentor Program, students are highly encouraged to seek out work real-world work experience in order to practice their professional skills and broaden their industry networks.
A post-graduate fellowship is a one- to two-year position where a recent Master’s graduate works alongside top-level executives. Fellowships are widely accepted as a critical stepping stone for early careerists who aspire to senior leadership roles. In 2016, University of South Florida joined the National Council on Administrative Fellowships (NCAF) as a Graduate Program Member. Students are encouraged to work with their faculty mentors early and often in their programs in order to prepare a competitive application for this valuable and rewarding opportunity.
