The Department of Health Policy and Management emphasizes excellence in teaching, research, and service for all citizens of Florida and the global community. The educational programs prepare managers, analysts, and researchers for leadership positions in health and related organizations, in public and private sectors.  The commitment to faculty excellence in research and scholarly achievements is directed toward making important contributions to improve management of health agencies and organizations and public policy decisions that advance the health of populations.

Charles J. Lockwood, MD, MHCM

The Department is privileged to have Dr. Charles Lockwood, Senior Vice President of USF Health and Dean of the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine serve as a jointly appointed Professor within the Department. Dr. Lockwood joined USF in May 2014. He is internationally known for his research in obstetrics and gynecology. In addition to his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, he has a Master of Science in Health Care Management from the Harvard School of Public Health. He was Dean of The Ohio State University College of Medicine for 3 years before joining USF and has served as Department Chair at both Yale and New York University. He is a member of the Institute of Medicine and has been recognized repeatedly for his work.
