This Public Health Generalist certificate facilitates and encourages formal training not only for our public health workforce, but also for students and professionals interested in the future of our profession. Once obtained, this certificate allows individuals to continue in a chosen track if departmental criteria for admission are met, while receiving up to 12 hours of credit toward a graduate degree for the core courses completed and passed. This certificate program helps students gain an overview of the core public health disciplines in addition to exploring and discovering some exciting career paths.

Fifteen (15) semester hours. Students are required to satisfactorily complete the five core courses in order to receive their certificate. Each core course is a 3-hour course.

Application of Certificate Courses Toward Graduate Degree
Up to 12 credit hours of certificate related courses may be applied toward a master's degree, contingent upon departmental approval. However, admission requirements for the College and the Department, such as a GRE score and letters of recommendation, must first be met.
Registration Process for Individual Courses
First, consult with the certificate program advisor and obtain an electronic course permit if necessary. Then go to http://usfonline.admin.usf.edu/ , the link to OASIS, USF's on-line registration system. Follow directions given on-line.

Standard graduate tuition rates and fees apply for graduate students who also pursue this graduate certificate, for non-degree graduate certificate students taking these courses on campus and for students admitted to this graduate certificate prior to the Spring 2007 term. The following rates apply only to non-degree seeking graduate certificate students who take these graduate certificate courses online:
Fla. Resident -- $392.20 per credit hour
Non-resident -- $423.25 per credit hour (after waiver*)
A flat fee of $37 is assessed once per term.
Additional fees may be assessed by the college.
*Non-resident, non-degree graduate certificate students will be charged an out-of-state matriculation fee of $625.19, but these students will receive a waiver of $625.19 per credit hour for fully on-line graduate certificate credits taken via the web.
