Dr. Westhoff is Associate Director of the Global CDMHA at USF and also an Assistant Professor, Department of Global Health, College of Public Health at the University of South Florida. His major research and professional interest lies in Caribbean Public Health. Dr. Westhoff has extensive experience in the Caribbean Basin, as relief coordinator to the Caribbean Basin countries for the Diocese of St. Petersburg, Mission Director to the Dominican Republic for the Diocese and most recently, public health researcher in this same area.

His most recent projects have been, two international teleconferences on HIV/AIDS prevention and Community Partnerships with 15 countries; a health assessment of adolescents in the Dominican Republic in collaboration with the Department of Education in Santo Domingo; and a one week presentation on community health education at the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan.

Currently he is involved in Haiti with the University of Quisqueya on a project to broadcast disaster preparedness to the population via a teleconference in Creole and having an audio broadcast to rural areas. Additionally, he is actively recruiting students in Venezuela for a Master's in Public Health via distance learning, from the University of South Florida.
