Frontiers of Drug Discovery and Infectious Diseases
May 15th, 2017

The event is hosted at the University of South Florida Interdisciplinary Research Building by the College of Public Health’s Center for Global Health & Infectious Diseases Research and the USF Center for Drug Discovery and Innovation. The symposium highlights and promotes ongoing collaborative research projects in Drug Discovery in Infectious Diseases at USF.  The program provides pre-doctoral students, post docs, and program faculty the opportunity to present their infectious disease research as it relates to drug discovery.  In addition, pre-doctoral students participating in this interdisciplinary STEM training program are eligible to apply for travel awards to attend and present research at national and international scientific meetings.  The CGHIDR-CDDI program integrates USF faculty from Departments of Global Health, Chemistry, Molecular Medicine, and Cell Biology, Microbiology and Molecular Biology.

The objectives of this event are:

  • Provide a professional forum for USF students to present research to their peers
  • Foster relationships between CDDI faculty and interdisciplinary drug discovery researchers
  • Enhance the public profile of USF as a training center for the best emerging biomedical and biopharmaceutical technologies, and promote development of efficient strategies able to solve global challenges fighting infectious diseases

Abstract submission:

Abstracts should be emailed to Please download and submit the abstract submission form. For presentations, abstracts should identify presenting author. This information is important for the award competition and planning only (there will be no program published); it is OK to submit abstracts presented at Research Day or other conferences. The deadline to submit is May 11th at 11:59pm.

General Registration:

Please register to attend at the email above even if you are not planning to present. The event will be held at USF’s Interdisciplinary Research Building (IDRB) located at 3720 Spectrum Blvd (across from Embassy Suites). Parking permits will be sent out to all registrants a week before the event.
