Dr. Haiduven, PhD, RN, CIC is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Global Health as well as the USF Center for Biological Defense. She joined USF in 2001, originally in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health. In addition, Dr. Haiduven is a Researcher at the James A. Haley V. A. Patient Safety Center. Dr. Haiduven specialized in Occupational Health for her Ph.D., and received a minor in teaching as well. Dr. Haiduven has teaching, advising, service and research responsibilities at USF.

 

Dr. Haiduven is Director of the Infection Control Graduate Certificate Program. She has 25 years of experience as in Infection Control Practitioner and is currently certified in Infection Control (CIC). Dr. Haiduven is the course director and instructor for 3 courses: Disease Surveillance & Monitoring (PHC 6251) offered in the fall semester, Infectious Disease Prevention Strategies (PHC 6517), offered in the spring semester and Infection Control Program Design (PHC 6314) offered in the summer. All four Infection Control Certificate Program courses are offered fully on-line as of fall 2007, (including Microbiology for Healthcare Workers (PHC 6562) taught by Dr. Azliyati Azizan).


Her research interests are in the prevention of sharps injuries in healthcare workers, with a focus on evaluating sharps devices designed for safety. She has two research laboratories, one at the USF College of Public Health and one at the James A. Haley V.A. Patient Safety Center. Dr. Haiduven has served as a mentor for numerous students in their field experiences and special projects, resulting in opportunities for students to engage in research, scientific presentations, and contributing to writing abstracts and manuscripts.  

 

Dr. Haiduven is a member of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, a reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals and the member of several honor societies. She has an extensive list of publications, presentations and invited lectures.
