Bio

Dr. Leaverton retired from the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, College of Public Health, University of South Florida (USF) in 2001. He was the founding chair of that department (1985) and is now professor emeritus. Following his retirement from academia, Dr. Leaverton spent some time at Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand, completing work on the epidemiology of aplastic anemia in that country. Subsequently, he accepted a part-time position as Director of Research at the Arthritis Institute of America in nearby Clearwater, FL, re-retiring in 2012. Currently, he is a part-time consultant and occasional lecturer at USF.
