Dr. Sanchez is a Research Assistant Professor of the College of Public Health and Epidemiologist, Patient Safety Center of Inquiry, J.A.Haley Veteran's Administration Medical Center, Tampa, Florida.
 
She received her MD from Mexican Autonomous National University, Mexico City, with two specialties: Occupational Medicine and Field Epidemiology. She earned her Ph.D. in Epidemiology, University of South Florida, College of Public Health. She served at the Centers for Disease Control, Mexico City, Mexico in which she participated in the study and control of outbreaks of infectious and acute diseases all around the country (red tide, Dengue, measles, pertussis, diphtheria, poliomyelitis, hurricane emergency). Starting in 1976, Dr. Sanchez served as Medical Doctor in Specialization Training,Mexican Social Security Institute. In 1983 she became the Medical sub- director, Ministry of Labor for the Medicine & Industrial Safety Management Department, and was responsible for technical consultation for the Mexican government at the national level. After completing her Ph.D. in 1999 she participated as the Co-Principal Investigator, Comparative Trauma Proposal (South Tampa, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic) with fieldwork completed personally in Nicaragua and Dominican Republic, July 2000. Dr. Sanchez-Anguiano has been working for the patient safety center in the VA Administration since October 1999 and her work has been related to falls in elderly populations. She has been teaching graduate level epidemiology courses in several formats. Currently, Dr. Sanchez-Anguiano is working on the design of a study related to diabetes mellitus and falls at the Center and is assisting with the development of the reaccreditation of the College and her department.
