Community Disaster Preparedness Coalition

Program Objectives:

  • Demonstrate the importance of establishing pre-disaster collaborative partnerships which will make counties resilient and disaster-ready.
  • Teach methods to identify critical partners in the government, not-for-profit, faith-based, and business sectors.
  • Provide instruction on designing a CDPC to fit an individual county’s needs and build synergistic relationships among health, human services, and emergency management systems.
  • Share Sarasota County’s approach in structuring an effective CDPC.
  • Provide strategies for engaging, motivating, and sustaining community partners in the CDPC.
  • Demonstrate techniques to utilize the incident command system (ICS) in conjunction with a CDPC.
  • Describe approaches to identify funding and other resources to support the CDPC and community disaster response and recovery efforts.
