Community Disaster Preparedness Coalition

Description

Program Aim:

The overarching aim of the CDPC Learning Center is to improve Florida’s disaster preparedness and emergency response and recovery capabilities through the collaboration of health, human services, and emergency management systems and their integration into county disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.

Program Goal:

The overall goal of the CDPC Learning Center is to improve Florida’s disaster preparedness and emergency response and recovery capabilities by delivering Public Health core competency-based training that will develop the essential knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for teams from all 67 counties to assemble a Community Disaster Preparedness Coalition (CDPC) or strengthen an existing CDPC in their respective county that integrates health, human services, and emergency management systems into county disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.

Program participants will be provided with knowledge of current best practices, collaborative approaches, practical tools, and technical assistance that will enable them to assemble or strengthen a CDPC in their respective county. Additionally, lessons learned, experiences, and practices utilized in the creation of the Sarasota COAD (Community Organizations Active in Disaster) will be shared.
