Message from the Director
The College of Public Health at the University of South Florida is committed to maximizing the level of competency and preparedness of people in public health. National studies have clearly indicated the need for schools of public health to collaborate with health organizations to achieve this end. By utilizing national and statewide studies and assessments, we have identified specific types of public health workforce education, development, and training that are needed.
The Center for Leadership in Public Health Practice exists to provide this training and development to the public health workforce with an emphasis on the employees of the Department of Health in our home state, Florida. Our programs are offered through both face-to-face and distance learning methods so that they are widely accessible. Support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has been critical in the development of our Center.
We at USF's Center for Leadership in Public Health Practice have been gratified by our collaborations with other faculty and staff at the College of Public Health who are also committed to carrying out the College's mission and with the fine practitioners who are practicing public health in Florida and nationally. The appreciation of our efforts and the very positive results of the Center's training and development activities has been a source of pleasure for us. However, a major contributor to our success has been what we learn from our partners and the practitioners with whom we work.
Like USF's College of Public Health as a whole, we are committed to continual collaboration with our partners and customers to best identify how to achieve our goal of maximizing the competency and preparedness of the public health work force.
