Regional and School-Based Outreach Initiatives

Florida Covering Kids & Families in collaboration with Florida Healthy Kids Corporation provides oversight of an outreach initiative targeting Regional community-based outreach partners and School-Based projects. Regional partner participation is encouraged in areas of the state where there are currently no formalized community outreach activities underway. Training and technical assistance is provided to community partners and school-based projects in addition to evaluative feedback that is collected from the partners on their strategies, successes, and barriers for best practices.

Florida Covering Kids & Families also engages schools on a statewide level by providing presentations, newsletter dissemination, marketing material distributions, and participation in outreach events, to inform families about Florida KidCare.

If you are interested in learning more about the Regional Outreach or School-Based project of Florida Covering Kids & Families please contact our Florida KidCare School-Based Outreach Manager, Rosemarie Sledge at rsledge@health.usf.edu.

School-Based Project Outreach Initiative
Florida Healthy Kids Corporation in conjunction with Florida Covering Kids & Families provides oversight to School-Based Outreach. School districts are a natural partner outreach because they are viewed as trusted institutions that communicate credibility to families.

This partnership relies on the premise of reaching families where their children are located daily, at school. These sites target families with eligible children using strategies and data including report card messaging, free and reduced lunch forms and their Emergency Medical Information Cards. The current partner includes the Miami-Dade County School District. If you are interested in learning more about the School-Based Pilot Project with Florida Covering Kids & Families please contact our Florida KidCare School-Based Outreach Manager, Rosemarie Sledge at rsledge@health.usf.edu.
