I am an M.P.H student concentrating in Behavioral Health. I received my B.A. from USF St. Petersburg in Psychological Science. My research interests are the nosology and prevention of alcohol use disorders in emerging adults. After completing my Masters, I would like to go on for a Doctoral degree and my dream job is to work for SAMHSA.
Hi! Welcome to the Behavioral Health Student Organization (BHSO)! My name is Melissa, the current vice president for BHSO. I am in my second year of the MPH program with my concentration in Behavioral Health. I am passionate about promoting mental illness awareness and implementing intervention/prevention programs. BHSO has been a great organization to help foster my interests in behavioral health and meet friends with similar interests. Thanks for checking BHSO out and I hope you decide to join!
This is my very first semester in the MPH program in Behavioral Health. I received my Bachelors of Science from U.S.F. so I am certainly not new to the area. I look forward to meeting new members and connecting with alumni, the community, and of course who can forget the students. I am very lucky to be a part of this wonderful group. I certainly look forward to an eventful semester, with fun filled BHSO activities that incorporate learning as well.
An important part of my development was my mother’s major in Child Psychology which she completed before my birth. After my high school diploma I studied at Saint Petersburg College, Tarpon Springs where I earned an Associate in Arts degree with a focus in Psychology. At the college I also earned the Outstanding Psychology Student award. I am interested in education, high positions of authority, and how people in positions of high authority utilize leadership characteristics like honesty, integrity, persistence, being decisive, vision, and having good moral character. I am enrolled full time at the University of South Florida, Tampa working toward completing a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Behavioral Healthcare. My primary goal is a degree in Psychology. I am also active in many other facets of life which I would be happy to share with you.
Greetings fellow BHSO members! I am a first year M.P.H student with a concentration in behavioral health. I am passionate about promoting mental health wellness in those who suffer from chronic somatic illnesses as well as provide mental health support to their families. Random fact about myself: I LOVE to bake cupcakes and chances are members will have delicious baked goods waiting for them at meetings and/or events!
