About Behavioral Health

The University of South Florida (USF) Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute (FMHI) and the USF College of Public Health jointly offer the Graduate Studies in Behavioral Health within the Department of Community & Family Health. Students in Behavioral Health study the organization, financing, planning, evaluation, outcomes, policy, and services delivery needs for mental health and substance abuse services from a public health perspective. Graduate Studies in Behavioral Health includes four graduate degree options: 1) a MPH Concentration in Behavioral Health; 2) a MSPH Focus in Behavioral Health; 3) a PhD Focus in Behavioral Health; and 4) a MSW/MPH Dual Degree Program with a Concentration in Behavioral health (in association with the USF School of Social Work). Graduates are prepared to work in mental health, alcohol, drug abuse, and public health organizations, as well as in research and consulting firms. Examples of sub-specialization areas include children's mental health, policy and behavioral health services delivery; the behavioral health needs of at-risk populations, and mental health planning, evaluation, & accountability.
