CPH Examination


All students seeking an MPH degree must take a comprehensive exam as a requirement for their degree. The College has determined that this requirement can be fulfilled by successful completion of the CPH national certification exam. The College covers the cost for enrolled degree-seeking students who are taking the exam for the first time. Field Experience


The field experience is considered a culminating experience and is a graduation requirement for all students who are earning an MPH or an MHA degree. Students in the MSPH Industrial Hygiene program are also required to do a field experience. A field experience is carefully supervised work or service experience that allows a student to address a public health issue or concern in a practical setting. Capstone


The Capstone course is a culminating experience for the MPH degree. It is intended to provide a unifying opportunity to utilize concepts, principles, and skills learned in your concentration and other public health courses along with students from other departments. The Capstone course also prepares you for successful completion of the CPH examination.

To register for the Capstone course, you must have completed the core courses and 75% of your degree program. You will receive a message via the student email list letting you know how to enroll in the course when you are ready for it.

Special Project


The Special Project course is a culminating experience for the MPH degree. Prior to registering for special project credits, each student is required to submit several documents to the Office of Academic and Student Affairs, including training in Human Research Protections. Thesis


The thesis is the culminating experience for an MSPH student. Prior to registering for thesis credits each student is required to submit several documents to the Office of Academic and Student Affairs, including training in Human Research Protections.

Dissertation

Graduation


In the semester that you plan to graduate, students must be registered for at least 2 graduate hours. You will have to apply for graduation, submit several forms, and complete all requirements by the established deadlines. Students who are certified to graduate will receive their diploma two months after the commencement ceremony.
