USF HEALTH Receiving

HSC Receiving  Central Receiving Staff

This section is responsible for delivery and shipping services for all USF HEALTH buildings and facilities.  Annually nearly 40,000 packages are sorted, logged, and delivered to more than 8 points through out the HSC campus in addition to Moffitt, the VA Hospital, TGH, and the South Clinic.  This department is also responsible for managing property disposal and accountability functions in addition to managing a fleet of six (6) state vehicles plus one (1) forklift.  Fleet management  involves scheduling maintenance/repair services and programming replacement as required.

State Vehicle Reservation

USF HEALTH members may use State vehicles for official University business.  These vehicles can be reserved  by calling USF Health Receiving at 974-2861 or USF Health Operations & Facilities at 974-3017.  It is recommended that you reserve the vehicle at least one week in advance. 

Surplus Property Disposal

Surplus Property is university property not used or no longer meets the needs of a department at the school. HSC Assets/Equipment Property program is managed in conjunction with USF Purchasing and Property Services.  The primary function of this group is to rid the campus of old, outdated, unused, surplus pieces of equipment/furniture.  As soon as it is determined that a piece of equipment or furniture is no longer needed, a Department fills out USF Form #3008, submits it to the Asset Management Office, ALN 147, and contacts HSC Facilities Department for disposal. 

HSC Facilities is aggressively making every effort to rid USF HEALTH corridors, common areas, laboratories, and office spaces of old excess equipment and furniture items.   If these items are allowed to accumulate in our corridors and passageways, building evacuations routes are impeded creating potentially very unsafe conditions.  It takes a collective effort to keep up with the surplus disposal process.  All USF HEALTH departments are encouraged to promptly notify HSC Facilities to rid our spaces of excess (junk) items.

Hazardous Inventory Tracking System (HITS)

HSC Receiving has also taken on the responsibility of managing and tracking hazardous chemicals as part of a campus-wide Hazardous Inventory Tracking System (HITS), necessary for disaster and fire response.  This effort allows all chemicals and laboratory substances to be identified along with their location for the purpose of notifying Fire Officials or Emergency Response Teams in the event of an HSC campus emergency.
