The H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute (Moffitt) is a large not for-profit National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center institution. Moffitt is licensed for 162 beds. Clinical facilities include a blood and marrow transplant unit, 11 operating rooms, and diagnostic radiology, MRI, PET and digital mammography capabilities, plus radiation therapy with 5 linear accelerators.
In 2001, the National Cancer Institute awarded Moffitt the status of a Comprehensive Cancer Center in recognition of its excellence in research and contributions to clinical trials, prevention and cancer control.
Additionally, Moffitt is a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, a prestigious alliance of the country’s leading cancer centers, listed in U.S. News & World Report as one of the top cancer hospitals in America, and recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best hospitals for the treatment of cancer in the country, as well as being the best in the state of Florida.
