Dr Ling’s research focus is on maximizing functional mobility in order to minimize chronic disease and injury risk. She has seen the critical need for this knowledge in her more than 20-year career as a Family Nurse Practitioner providing ambulatory care of individuals and families in community settings. Dr. Ling is involved in investigating mechanisms and assessment of functional mobility using symptom phenotyping; specifically gait, balance, dual task performance and socio-environmental context with cellular outcomes. She has also led and participated in the planning, implementing and evaluation of macro and micro level population health interventions for obesity treatment and prevention in federal and private sectors.
