Advances in cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment have propelled the demand for advanced practice nurses in oncology. Oncology nurse practitioners provide, guide and evaluate nursing care for individuals with cancer, as well as for their families and caregivers, often as part of an interprofessional healthcare team.

The USF Dual Oncology/Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner concentration has a strong focus on cancer prevention, psychosocial support, early detection, symptom management, and enhancing quality of life of individuals and their families. I am proud of all the USF Oncology masters students who I have taught since I began the concentration in 1985. They have been impacting the practice of Oncology Nursing in Tampa Bay and across the nation. Now we have a new curriculum that is right for the needs of the todays oncology patients, families and caregivers. A dual concentration in Oncology and Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner just makes sense. The USF Oncology Nurse Practitioner concentration is the only place to be!
