BS-DNP Pediatric Health Concentration

Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioners (PNPs) provide care to children from birth through young adulthood. The PNP is a Registered Nurse with a graduate degree in nursing prepared with the knowledge and experience required to provide well child and preventive health services and to evaluate and manage common pediatric acute and chronic illnesses (National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties, 2013). Most PNPs practice in private and public ambulatory care settings. PNP practice at the doctoral level involves the exercising advanced levels of clinical judgment, systems thinking, and responsibility and accountability in planning, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based strategies to improve individual patient and population health outcomes.

Graduates are prepared to sit for national certification as Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioners by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.
