- Susan Steele successfully defended her dissertation, "Development of an Ecological Model to Predict Risk for Acquisition of Clostridium difficile- Associated Diarrhea During Acute Care Hospitalization."
- Patricia Wahrenberger, DrNP, ARNP-BC recently published, "Wahrenberger, P. (2008). Streamlining patient education: The web as a resource. Advance for Nurse Practitioners, 16(3), 65-67.
- Joy Viars’ Fall 2007 Capstone paper, "Anxiety and Open Heart Surgery", has been accepted for publication by Medsurg Nursing.
- Mai Nguyen’s Fall 2007 Capstone paper, "Nurse's Assessment of Caregiver Depressive Symptoms", has been accepted for publication by Medsurg Nursing.
- Dr. Joan Gregory has been invited to serve on the Steering Committee for the Task Force on Faculty Roles, Responsibilities and Rewards at USF. This committee will bring the faculty’s academic experience, expectation and rewards into alignment with USF’s strategic plan.
- Communications Graduate Assistant, Ashlea Hudak successfully defended her thesis, "An Experimental Analysis of the Influence of Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives on Beliefs, Attitudes and Behavioral Intentions Within the Context of Corporate Credibility".
- Luis Battistini from the CONECT department is graduating this semester with a Masters of Science degree in computer science.
- Brandy Lehman, RN, PhD successfully defended her dissertation, “Understanding Stress, Immunity and Sleep Disturbances in Caregivers of Persons with Dementia” at the University of Florida on April 2, 2008. Congratulations Dr Brandy Lehman!
- Dr. Brandy Lehman was selected to receive a Scholars Travel Award to the Psychoneuroimmunology Research Society Meeting to present her research in May.
- Laura Gonzalez, MS, ARNP successfully defended her dissertation, “Health-Care Seeking Behaviors of Puerto Ricans with Diabetes Mellitus who live in South Florida: An Exploratory Study.” Congratulations Dr. Laura Gonzalez!
- Dr. Maureen Groer, RN, PhD, FAAN was granted tenure at the University of South Florida. Congratulations Dr. Groer!
- Dr. Theresa Beckie, PhD, RN, FAHA was promoted to the rank of Professor at the USF College of Nursing. Congratulations Dr. Beckie!
- PhD students, Mary Ann Morgan, MS, ARNP and Cindy Tofthagen, MS, ARNP won ACS Doctoral Scholarships worth $30,000 each. Congratulations!
- Cecile Lengacher, RN, PhD received notification that an abstract for her R-21 grant has been accepted at the Biennial Cancer Survivorship Research Conference. Co-investigators on the grant include Dr. Kevin Kip and Dr. Versie Johnson-Mallard. Congratulations!
- Dr. Kevin Kip will be presenting, “Racial Differences in Cardiovascular Risk Factors: Clinical Implications for Screening and Treatment” at the Advances in the Management of Cardiovascular Disease: Where are we now? Where are we going? event sponsored by the USF Health Signature Interdisciplinary Program in Cardiovascular Research at USF Embassy Suites on April 18, 2008 at 10 AM.
- A warm welcome to Trudy Wittenberg, Unit Research Administrator working in the College’s Research Center. Wittenberg previously worked in the USF Office of Research Integrity and Compliance as a Research and Compliance Administrator. She is certified as an IRB Professional, and has more than 10 years experience in research compliance involving human subjects and issues related to federal regulations for new drug applications, devices, social sciences, and other clinical research. Welcome Trudy!
- A warm welcome to our Student Services Receptionist, Jason Hepburn. A native of Tampa, he has been employed with USF since 2000. Hepburn previously worked in the College of Education, and has also spent time working in accounts payable for USF. Welcome Jason!
