  • Dr. Mary Evans provided expert testimony Feb17th on burnout among nurses at an international hearing in Berlin, Germany, sponsored by BIG Gesundheit Insurance.
  • Dr. Mary Evans also presented a paper on Assessing Conflict in Systems of Care at the 19th Annual National Research Conference: A System of Care for Children's Mental Health: Expanding the Research Base, Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute, Tampa, FL on February 23.
  • Dr. Rankin – Sahebzamani was notified that her abstract was accepted for poster presentation: Eric E. Coris EE, Edmonds A, Curski N, Zwygart K, Sahebzamani FM, (2006). Low bone mass in elite female athletes. IOF World Congress on Osteoporosis, Toronto, Canada, June 2-6
  • Doctoral student, Lelia Barks,  and co-author Debbi Gavin-Dreschnack, PhD, were notified that their abstract, Seeing is believing,  was accepted for poster presentation at the 6th National Safe Patient Handling & Movement Conference, in Clearwater Beach on March 2, 2006.

  • Dr. Cecile Lengacher received the notification of Grant Award from NCI for her R21 proposal, Effects of MBSR in Early Stage Breast Cancer Recovery.
  • The On-Site Accreditation Review of the proposed Nurse Anesthesia Program was a stellar report for USF Nursing. We were rated in compliance with every standard of evaluation; several comments of excellence were noted specifically. Representatives from the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Wynn Wegeman and Nancy Steadman, applauded Dean Burns and projected full accreditation of our Nurse Anesthesia Program by July of this year. click here for more information
  • USF Nursing hosted a Distinguished Lecturer presentation, The State of the Nursing Workforce by Peter Buerhaus, PhD, RN, FAAN on Friday, February 10th. Attendees from the College of Nursing, the James A. Haley VA Hospital, University Community Hospital, and the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center applauded the lecture.
  • Dr. Mary Evans presented her lecture, Beyond Grant Writing to Successful Funding, at the 3rd Annual Florida Magnet Nursing Research Conference: Nursing Research at the Point of Care, February 9-10, at the Tampa Convention Center.
  • Dr. Cecilia Jevitt presented "Integrating Obesity into Prenatal Care." at the Southern Nursing Research Society 20th conference Feb 2-4, 2006 in Memphis, TN. It was very well received.
  • Doctoral student, Sabrina Robinson, was elected co-chair of the American Public Health Association Student Assembly (APHA-SA) Diversity committee

  • Dr. Adrienne Beraducci’s article, “Continuous Heat Therapy: Can It Have an Impact?” was published in Arthritis Practitioner in the January/February 2006 issue.
  • Instructor, Laura Gonzalez, accepted and invitation to participate in the National Coalition of Nurse Minority Researchers as a Mentee in Chicago in March
  • Nursing student, Robin James, under the mentorship of Dr. Elaine Slocumb, has learned that her Summer 2005 Capstone manuscript, "Whistleblowing: What Every Nurse Should Know" has been accepted for publication by the journal Critical Care Nurse
