The Florida Alliance is an organization that develops partnerships among higher education institutions in Florida to increase diversity in the health professions. In response to recommendations from the
Institute of Medicine’s Ensuring Diversity in the Health-care Workforce and the
Louis Sullivan Commission’s Missing Persons: Minorities in the Health Professions, representatives from 15 universities and a variety of health disciplines are working to explore the formation of the Florida Alliance, Universities identified thus far that have expressed an interest in the Florida Alliance include

Bethune-Cookman University,
Florida A&M University,
Florida Atlantic University,
Florida Gulf Coast University,
Florida International University,
Florida Memorial University,
Florida State University,
Nova Southeastern,
University of Central Florida,
University of Florida,
University of Miami,
University of North Florida,
University of South Florida and the
University of West Florida. The Florida Alliance is working closely with the
Virginia-Nebraska Alliance that was established in 2004.
