The Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Science program prepares scientists to advance nursing practice and education through research and scholarly activity, and teaching. Rigorous research training is offered for persons contemplating careers in academia or in health agencies, especially individuals anticipating careers in designing and conducting research.
Admission Requirements:
The College is committed to recruiting a diverse pool of applicants who are highly motivated to achieve the doctoral program objectives. Admission to the program is based on a number of factors that take into account the fact that a student's potential for academic success at the doctoral level may be measured in a number of ways.
Admission Requirements
  • Earned a Master's degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited nursing program.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 at bachelors level
  • Scored competitively on the quantitative, verbal and analytic portions of the GRE.
  • Demonstrated a commitment to doctoral study and scholarly productivity.
  • Clear potential for research contributions.
  • Personal interview with Director of MS to PhD Program or designee
  • Current licensure in nursing.
  • Evidence of potential for leadership in nursing profession.
  • Three letters of recommendation.
