The Graduate Program in Nurse Anesthesia is designed to provide an extensive foundation of anesthesia educational and clinical experiences. The curriculum incorporates many cutting edge technologies, including human anesthesia simulation, while providing a fully integrated learning environment for students. The classroom and clinical setting are designed to achieve integration of the knowledge, skills and aptitudes necessary for the production of a competent and proficient nurse anesthetist. The USF College of Nursing is well established with an exceptional reputation in education and research. The faculty consists of dedicated and caring members committed to the advancement of nursing in all disciplines. Certified registered nurse anesthetists, anesthesiologists, and professors comprise the faculty that are dedicated to the produce practitioners who will provide safe, quality anesthetic care to our citizens. The CRNA Program is fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (222 South Prospect Avenue-Suite 304, Park Ridge, IL 60068-4041. (847) 692-7050) The CRNA Program is a challenging full time 28 month, 70 credit academic and clinical endeavor. The program consists of 7 continuous semesters starting annually in August. The first 12 months (didactic phase) are spent at the USF main campus in Tampa, Florida. The following 16 months (clinical phase) are spent among a variety of excellent and diverse hospital settings in the Tampa Bay area. The program is independent of the college calendar. Upon satisfactory completion of all didactic and clinical work, candidates are awarded the Master of Science Degree from the University of South Florida. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the national qualifying exam certification as a registered nurse anesthetist. Upon successful completion of the national certifying exam the graduate may be licensed as an advanced registered nurse practitioner |
