Admission Requirements

The College of Nursing at the University of South Florida offers a Master of Science with a major in Nursing for Registered Nurses with a Bachelors degree in another field. Concentrations are available in a variety of areas. Referred to as NBM, admission to the program is competitive and is based on a review of materials submitted and on the availability of adequate classroom space, clinical facilities, and faculty. The applicant is responsible for compiling and submitting the complete set of materials. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Effective Fall 2010 the master’s admission process, requirements, and eligibility will be changing. All prospective students interested in applying for Fall 2010, or a term thereafter, will need to wait until after February 15 to submit any applications or documents to us.
NBM Application Requirements
  • Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited program
  • Completed Associate Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited program
  • Evidence of current Florida RN license in good standing
  • Earned a grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale in all work attempted while registered as an upper division applicant working on a baccalaureate degree.
  • Online Application to the University of South Florida - Graduate School
  • Application to the College of Nursing by the College of Nursing application deadline
  • GRE is required for Nurse Anesthesia students.
  • The Occupational Health concentration has a dual degree with the College of Public Health (COPH) and thus additional COPH requirements (such as the GRE and statement of goals) may apply for that concentration. Please email nurstudent@health.usf.edu for more information on Occupational Health.
Eligible areas of specialization for the NBM program may vary depending on your term of entry.

** The Adult and Family Nurse Practitioner Masters concentrations are highly competitive. Additional admission requirements and a higher GPA may be required for those concentrations.
