Accelerated Second Bachelor's Degree Program

Attention Accelerated Applicants: Effective immediately, the USF College of Nursing will be accepting accelerated applications for both the Summer 2008 and Fall 2008 terms. In addition, the accelerated program will no longer be accepting applications in the spring beginning in 2009. These new rules apply ONLY to the accelerated second bachelor’s program.

As always, in order to be eligible for any term, accelerated students must have completed their pre-requisites with grades and must have their bachelor’s degree posted by the deadline for their term of interest. The accelerated deadline for the Summer 2008 term is March 15. The accelerated deadline for the Fall 2008 term is June 15.

For Students with Bachelor Degrees in Other Disciplines

This program is a full time course of study. Students are eligible for registered nurse licensure after successful completion of 50 credits.

• Acceptance to the University of South Florida
• Application to the College of Nursing by the deadline

Applicants must meet the following requirements before entering program:
Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university

• Minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA
• Completion of Required Prerequisites
• Proof of health insurance
• Current health/immunization requirements

Accelerated Program of Study

Past experience has proven that new nursing students are more successful if they begin the program with an orientation. Therefore, students accepted to any program at the College of Nursing are required to attend a new student orientation. This is the final step in the application and acceptance process and it cannot be waived or postponed. Accepted students should not make final plans for travel, studying abroad, or other activities that may interfere with attendance at the mandatory orientation. In addition, students are encouraged to clear attendance at the mandatory orientation with their current professor if they are enrolled in a class at the time of orientation. Students who are unable to attend the orientation will not be permitted to enter the program that semester and may apply again to be accepted for a later term. A tentative schedule of Orientation Dates has been published on the College of Nursing web page at (list link), but may be subject to change. It is the responsibility of each applicant to monitor the orientation page for changes and updates.
