Research Interests
  • Dr. Malbrough's passion includes promoting evidence-based practice in the clinical setting specifically the utilization of 2-D ultrasound technology for central line placement.
  • Other research interests include evaluating simulation instructional methods and the use of checklists as an effective tool during crisis management to decrease human errors.

Latest Studies
  • Initial research began with an evidence-based protocol where she developed an algorithm describing the recommendations for use of ultrasound for central line insertion. Initial investigative work was presented in a poster presentation at the AANA National Convention 2008 and the abstract later published in the AANA Journal in October 2008.
  • 2010: "Pilot Educational Teaching Model for Central Line Insertion utilizing 2-Dimensional Ultrasound for Integration into Graduate School Nursing Programs". University of South Florida, Tampa, FL. Study funding provided by the American Association of Nurse Anesthesia Foundation.

Clinical Team
    She has been employed by Florida Gulf-to-Bay Anesthesiology, P.A. since 2009 who employs over 50 board certified anesthesiologists and over 100 certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNA's). FGTBA not only provides anesthesia services to Tampa General Hospital but 13 other facilities in the Tampa Bay Area. FTGBA is the preferred provider of anesthesia services at Tampa General Hospital and is affiliated with the University of South Florida.
