Non-Degree admission is limited to the following types of students:
- Transient students with approval from their home institution (must provide copy of approval form)
- An applicant who already has a master’s degree and needs a few additional courses to be eligible for the certification exam (must provide letter/documentation from certification board)
- A graduate certificate applicant needing pre-requisite courses to be eligible to apply*
- PhD/DNP prospective students interested in taking a doctoral level course to evaluate their abilities and commitment prior to applying to the program.
Applicants must meet the following requirements before applying for this program:
- Earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale in previously earned bachelors or masters degree
- Evidence of current Florida RN license in good standing.
- Have the required documentation to support your student type listed above
*Students must have an application on file for their designated program in order to be considered eligible for non-degree.

Please note: The College of Nursing offers the above resources for individuals to learn more about our programs. In order to provide service to the large number of prospective applicants, the College of Nursing Graduate Office is unable to offer walk-in or individual appointments prior to a student being admitted to the College.
Applicants who meet the admission requirements may follow these steps in order to apply:
- Submit a USF Non-Degree Application
Submit an application to USF through the FACTS.org website.
- Submit a College of Nursing Application
Complete the on-line College of Nursing application at https://hsccf.hsc.usf.edu/soar. For questions contact: University of South Florida College of Nursing – (813) 974-2191 or nurstudent@health.usf.edu.
Please note: A U-number is required in order to submit the College of Nursing application. Individuals who have completed step 1 (applied to USF admissions) will receive an email from USF on how to access their U-number within 48 hours. Once a U-number is established, it may take an additional 48 hours for the USF system to upload to the Nursing system. Therefore, individuals should allow up to 4 days after applying to USF before attempting to apply to the College of Nursing.
- Receive notification from the Registrar of clearance as a Non-Degree seeking student.
- Submit additional documentation
All required documentation should be sent directly to the College of Nursing, 12901 Bruce B. Downs Blvd., MDC 22, Attn: Nursing Graduate Admissions, Tampa, FL 33612.
The required documentation for College of Nursing non-degree applications includes: official transcripts and supplemental documentation as proof of eligibility to enroll in a non-degree course. If applying to take Masters level courses, submit Bachelors transcript. If applying to take Doctoral level courses, submit Masters transcript. Applicants are required to have a Florida RN license in good standing. All documentation must be received by the deadline in order for applications to be considered.
All coursework and degrees completed outside the United States require a course by course evaluation from an approved evaluating agency. The foreign transcript evaluation services approved by the USF Graduate School can be found at: http://www.grad.usf.edu/graduate-admissions-Foreign-Transcript-Evaluation.asp. Please note that the Florida Board of Nursing maintains its own list of approved evaluating agencies. The Florida Board of Nursing approved agency list can be found at: http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/nursing/nur_foreign.html. Transcript evaluations must be received at the College of Nursing in their original sealed envelopes by the deadlines posted below.
- Receive notification by email from the College of Nursing on seat availability in the class you requested or continue to check OASIS for a permit.
- Go to the OASIS (https://usfonline.admin.usf.edu/) and register for a class.
- Pay fees thru the Cashier’s Office
Via the website (http://usfweb.usf.edu/controller/cashiers) or mail to: Tuition, USF, 4202 E. Fowler Ave, Tampa, FL 33620-3650 (Payment by mail must be postmarked by the 5th day of classes)
All three steps in the application process must be completed by 5:00 pm on the deadline for the application term.

Please note: Students who do not meet the criteria and are denied admission may submit a petition to the College of Nursing Student Affairs Committee. Submitting a petition is a request for consideration and the decision of the committee is final.
Non-Degree seeking students are limited to 2 courses per semester and a maximum of 3 semesters of non-degree seeking enrollment.*
For individuals seeking masters level coursework, we offer the following courses:

NGR 6080 Health Promotion of Individuals, Families, and Populations (3)
NGR 6737 Ethical, Legal, & Policy Issues in Advanced Practice (3)
NGR 6140 Pathophysiology for Advanced Practice (4)
NGR 6172 Pharmacology for Advanced Practice (4)
For individuals seeking doctoral level coursework, applicants must obtain written approval by the course instructor prior to a permit being issued to register.
*If you are intending to apply to our doctoral or graduate certificate program, please be aware that students are limited to 12 credit hours of transfer coursework.
Please note: The Non-Degree application process is separate from the Degree-seeking process. Individuals wishing to also apply for a degree-seeking program at the College of Nursing are required to complete an additional, separate application process listed at:
