Registered Nurse with Bachelor's to Master's Degree (RN/MS)
(For RNs with a Bachelor's Degree in Another Major)
The RN/MS option is designed to facilitate admission to graduate school for Registered Nurses who have earned a baccalaureate degree in another discipline.
Admission Requirements:

*Application Deadlines: Spring – Oct 1; Summer – April 6; Fall - June 1.

Admission to the Master's program is competitive and is based on a review of materials submitted and on the availability of adequate classroom, clinical facilities, and faculty. The applicant is responsible for compiling and submitting the complete set of materials. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Required baccalaureate coursework required for completion prior to graduate coursework:

  • Statistics (3)
  • Physical Examination and Assessment (3)
  • Research (3)
  • Community Health and Community Health Practicum (6)
These courses may be completed with selected College of Nursing course work.

Community College Equivalencies
Admission Criteria:
  • Earned Baccalaureate degree from an accredited program with an AS or ADN in nursing.
  • One official transcript, sealed, from every institution of higher learning from which you received degree or took courses
  • Earned a grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale in all work attempted while registered as an upper division applicant working on a baccalaureate degree
  • Current license as a registered nurse
  • Three letters of recommendation, indicating potential for graduate study, from persons who can attest to the applicant's academic ability, clinical competence, and commitment (optimally, these letters will be from nursing professors, or clinical supervisors)
  • Current resume or curriculum vita
  • A written statement of professional goals.
  • Applicants who do not meet these requirements may petition the Student Affairs Committee for consideration for admission.

  • Two official transcripts, sealed, from every institution of higher learning from which you received degree or took courses
  • The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is only required for the Masters of Science in Nurse Anesthesia, DNP, & PhD. All other master's applicants may waive the GRE.
  • Scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) if your native language is not English. A minimum score of 550 is required
  • Three letters of reference indicating potential for graduate study from academic and employment references who can attest to your academic ability, clinical competence and commitment. Use the form provided.
  • Copy of a Florida RN license.
  • Copy of transcript validating completion of RN program.
  • Copy of your resume or curriculum vita using the recommended format .
