About the Camp

Below is information about the camp held in February 2013. The 2014 camp is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 1-2, 2014. Join our Contact Registry to be sure to receive the most up-to-date information about the camp.

Young athletes, ages 8-18 with type 1 diabetes, are invited to participate along with a sibling or best friend! Campers will choose 3 out of 7 sports based on interest. Campers will rotate from sport to another throughout the day. Skill levels will vary widely.

Program includes:

  • Participation in up to 3 sports with successful T1D athletes coaching each sport
  • Instuction on how to manage diabetes as an athlete
  • Meeting others with diabetes
  • Medical supervision from the USF Diabetes Center staff

Sports available:

Campers will participate in 3 of the 7 sports being offered at this camp.

  • Baseball/Softball- Campers must bring your own glove.
  • Basketball
  • Tennis
  • Soccer
  • Football
  • Cheerleading
  • Golf

Sam FuldSam Fuld, Major League Baseball outfielder with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Despite being diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 10, Fuld began his baseball career by twice batting .600 in high school, during which time Baseball America ranked him 19th in the country
