Suncoast Alzheimer's and Gerontology Center offers comprehensive clinical assessment  to diagnose and treat persons who are experiencing memory problems. Since there are many medical conditions that can cause Alzheimer's-like symptoms, it is critical to have a thorough evaluation. Alzheimer's disease is one of several causes of irreversible cognitive loss or dementia. Other causes of dementia include vascular disease (strokes), Lewy Body Dementia, Frontotemperal dementia, Parkinson's disease, and others. 

Some conditions, such as  depression, vitamin deficiency,  thyroid disease, infections and the use of certain medications can  cause reversible memory loss. The physicans at Suncoast are sklilled at recognizing these conditions and creating the best plan of care for you or your loved one.

 The initial evaluation & subsequent visits includes:

  • An assessment by a geriatric psychiatrist
  • Interview with caregiver & patient to obtain a medical, psychiatric and memory decline history
  • Cognitive testing
  • Laboratory analysis of the blood, or imaging tests of the brain may be ordered
  • Diagnosis and recommendations for caregivers
  • Follow-up care, ongoing management and caregiver support

Complete the form and mail or fax it back to us. prior to scheduling an appointment. We may also ask that you obtain pertinent medical records.

The Center accepts Medicare and Medicaid assignment. Please check your individual insurance policy for coverage of psychiatric services. Any questions regarding payment for services can be discussed when contacting the Center for an appointment. Services are available for Spanish speaking patients.
