Overview:

This prgogram is to help individuals who are caring for a family member with Alzheimer's disease or related memory disorder. Faculty from the  Suncoast Alzheimer's and Gerontology Center will present on various aspects of  AD and caregiver issues.

 

Participants will receive a resource packet and lunch.

  • Understanding Alzheimer's disease- diagnosis, rate of progression, stages
  • Medications and current treatment options

Cost:

There is no cost but registration is required.

Audience:

nurses, ALF and nursing home administrators, social workers, care managers, guardians, mental health counselors, gerontologists, Ombudsmen, health care administrators, service providers and graduate students.

Credit:

18 hours of continuing education will be provided. This course is also a 3-credit graduate course in the USF School of Aging Studies and can be applied to the graduate certificate programs. For information on taking this as a graduate class, please call Gail Smith at (813) 974-9740.
