College of Medicine Grants and Scholarships

The following aid programs are considered "internal" or institutional funds, i.e., those programs awarded from College of Medicine sources. Except where noted within the individual program listing, no additional application materials are required other than those listed under "The Application Process."

  • Brenda Welling Scholarship Fund - This scholarship was established in 2004 to honor Brenda Welling. Awards are made annually to medical students who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need. Students must be nicotine free and not using illegal drugs or substances to be eligible.
  • College of Medicine USF Grant - This USF funded grant is made available to undergraduate and graduate students who exhibit financial need. To gain eligibility for this grant, students must complete and submit their FAFSA by March 1st.
  • USF Women in Leadership and Philanthropy (WLP) Scholarships - USF WLP strives to provide as many scholarships as possible at the beginning of each academic year. However, all scholarships may not be available each year. Please refer to the USF Foundation website to determine which scholarships are currently available. http://usfweb2.usf.edu/wlp/index.asp

 

External Scholarship and Award Opportunities

 

The following aid programs are offered by organizations not directly affiliated with the College of Medicine.  Please review each award description for specific application details.

  • National AMBUCS™ - For over 50 years, National AMBUCS™, Inc. has been awarding scholarships to therapy students in their junior/senior year in a bachelor’s degree program, or a graduate program leading to a master’s or doctoral degree.
    Awards range from $500 to $1,500 annually. There is one two-year award in the amount of $6,000. Approximately $150,000 is awarded annually. For more information, visit http://www.ambucs.com/scholarship-program-information/
  • KML Scholarship Foundation, Inc. - To provide financial assistance and positive motivation to those individuals who are facing the economic challenges of obtaining a higher education leading to or improving employment opportunities.  All considered applicants must be a legal Florida resident of Hillsborough, Pasco or Pinellas County. Applicants must also have either a high school diploma or GED and been (or will be) formally accepted to a college, university, technical, trade, or vocational institution. Award amounts are based on many factors primarily good citizenship, academic ability, career potential and financial situation. Recipients and amounts are chosen by our selection committee.

  • Jack Kent Cooke Foundation - The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation has an ongoing commitment to support graduate students making extraordinary contributions to their fields of study and recognizes the importance of providing assistance to those striving for excellence. The Foundation's Graduate Scholarships are offered to students who receive undergraduate scholarships from the Foundation.

  • The Bailey Family Foundation - The Bailey Family Foundation awards scholarships to high school seniors and college students primarily in Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Polk counties, Florida.
