In my last communication to you as the AMA-MSS Delegate from the University of South Florida chapter, I want to thank everyone who made the great success achieved by the USF College of Medicine possible. During the past year, we have had members of our chapter elected to regional leadership positions, appointed to serve on national committees, and write policies that were adopted by the Medical Student Section of the American Medical Association. We have also seen an unprecedented increase in chapter membership, beginning with the large influx that occurred prior to the 2010 Annual Meeting in Chicago, and have participated in multiple community service projects that have contributed to making Tampa, Florida a better place for our patients to live.
Though I will no longer be serving as Chapter Delegate, I will continue to work with members of our executive board in my capacity as Regional Delegate. I will also be running for the position of Region Chair at the 2011 Annual Meeting determined to bring some of the success enjoyed by USF to the rest of the southeastern United States.
As of June 16th, I will be leaving you in the very capable hands of David Graham, who will be taking over as Chapter Delegate to the AMA. I wish David, the rest of the 2011-2012 executive board, and the USF chapter the best in their future endeavors and encourage them to continue to set the bar high for the classes that will follow them.
