Goals




  • Establish "Research-in progress" meetings to bring researchers and clinicians together to foster collaborations and to facilitate the translation of research to clinical care.

  • Establish an interdisciplinary internal research awards program to encourage development of collaborative research projects involving teams of scientists and clinicians.

  • Develop program project proposals in selected areas of current strengths in cardiovascular research.

  • Establish a mentoring program for junior faculty to help procure NIH and other research funding.

  • Establish a research infrastructure, including core research facilities, to facilitate the development and sustenance of strong, competitive research programs.

  • Develop a supportive organizational and administrative infrastructure to facilitate development of cardiovascular initiatives.

  • Foster and support a Cardiovascular Signature Seminar Research Program to invite leading and distinguished speakers in cardiovascular disease prevention, treatment, and research.

  • Develop opportunities for students, residents and fellows to participate in basic and clinical cardiovascular research.
