Research Administration

Research Administration Range of Services:

Funding

  • Search Funding Opportunities (Upon request, will search for specific opportunities)
  • Distribute e-notices to faculty and staff about opportunities and deadlines
  • Provide advice on funding opportunities and the requirements of sponsors
  • Develop relationships with potential sponsors to identify their future funding priorities
  • Post funding opportunities on website

Proposal Development

  • Work with faculty to ensure all application efforts are well coordinated and deadlines can be met.
  • Ensure proposals adhere to funding agency and university guidelines
  • Prepare and review the administrative portions of the proposal, including:
    • editing and formatting biographical sketches
    • budget development (advice/assistance on costing and pricing of proposals)
    • drafting budget justifications
    • providing boilerplate information and templates
    • completing application forms (SF424 & PHS398)
    • sub-award development
  • Assist with completing compliance paperwork

Proposal Submission

  • Expedite internal processing and routing using the USF Electronic Internal Form
  • Ensure approval by the appropriate authorized signatures
  • Confirm with Sponsored Research that submissions comply with funding agency guidelines and USF institutional policies
  • Confirm submission with Sponsored Research

Award Set-up and Post-Award (Assists with MCOM Business Office)

  • Assist with completing USF Forms (GBR, Budget Transfers, etc.)
  • Advise faculty on the terms of awards
  • Monitor compliance with the terms of awards
  • Assist faculty and departments with grant management (Request extensions and modifications as needed on active awards)

Administrative Liaisons with USF Departments and Central Offices

  • Mediate between departments and central offices on various grant issues

Training

  • Meet one-on-one with faculty and staff to educate them on the research process (e.g. teach faculty how to search for funding opportunities using e-resources such as Community of Science (COS), and Grants.gov)

Research Reports

  • Provide research data at the College, Department and PI level for research expenditures, awards and proposals
