The mission of the Office of Clinical Research is to provide faculty with resources, information and expertise in clinical research to advance the science of healthcare. The OCR is comprised of three functional areas; clinical services, business operations, and fiscal operations.

Clinical Services

Research nurse, study coordinator, and regulatory coordinator services are now available on a limited fee for hire basis for clinical research studies being conducted in the Morsani Clinical Research Center and certain additional locations. Our staff will work with you to complete a Service Request Form which will inform the scope of services and assist in estimating the cost of services to be charged against the study account. In addition, the clinical services staff is available to serve as a resource for ethical, regulatory and compliance related issues.

Business Operations Services

The OCR business operations team will liaise with the sponsor and/or CRO to conduct budget negotiations, contract language negotiation, preferred payment terms, and assist with the efficient start up of new studies including obtaining quotes from external vendors. The business operations team also documents the Coverage Analysis for new protocols and serves the important function of ensuring that subject injury language is consistent between the consent document and the contract.

Fiscal Operations Services

The OCR fiscal operations team manages the overall financial operations for the non-Federally sponsored clinical research studies in the Morsani College of Medicine. This team invoices sponsors, tracks earned revenue, applies payments to the appropriate study accounts, applies F&A according to each individual contract and budget, and generates financial reports for PIs and departments.
