Neuromusculoskeletal Disorders

The School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences at the USF College of Medicine has identified neuromusculoskeletal conditions as a major area of interest. Neuromusculoskeletal disease and injury are prevalent with progressive aging, and are among the most common chronic medical problems affecting the population within the State of Florida and the United States.
Utilizing the sophisticated equipment in the Motion Analysis and Human Functional Performance Core Laboratories, research is planned and underway to advance knowledge in both the prevention and treatment of neuromusculoskeletal functional impairments that accompany both disease and injury.
To determine the best rehabilitative interventions for these impairments and functional limitations that result from neuromusculoskeletal disease and injury, studies will be directed towards occupational ergonomics, fall risk and prevention, exercise adherence and compliance, and orthotic and prosthetic wear and use.
