Center for Genomics & Proteomics
During the past decade, the importance of genomics and proteomics in medicine has been well recognized. Studies of both the entire DNA sequence of the genome, and the totality of the proteins in an organism are essential for understanding disease processes and for the potential development of both new therapeutic regimens and diagnostic methods.
The USFCOM appreciates the importance of both genomics and proteomics for the future of medicine. To this end, we are in the process of creating a
Center for Genomics & Proteomics to foster both basic and clinical research in the College. We intend to provide faculty and students access to the most advanced technologies to enable them to optimize their research programs. This facility will provide the infrastructure necessary for researchers to secure access to the technologies, databases and other scientific resources necessary to foster cutting-edge collaborative ventures. It is hoped that research conducted utilizing this core facility will build on our current knowledge, and will contribute to the development of new strategies for diagnosing, treating, and preventing diseases.
We intend to equip the facility with the most advanced instrumentation to provide molecular technology and expertise to researchers.
As we are currently developing this facility, we encourage you to contact members of the Genomics & Proteomics subcommittee to provide input you may have on specific equipment that will assist you in your research endeavors. These individuals include:
