Message from the Director of Medical Student Education

Medical Student Education - Dr. Glenn CatalanoThe most important job of any psychiatrist is to be a teacher. A teacher of patients, of families, of students and of residents. Teaching is one of the ideals spoken of in the Hippocratic oath, and we take our responsibilities to our students very seriously here at the University of South Florida Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine. We consider it a great privilege to be given the opportunity to teach you about our field, our fascinating history and our exciting future.

The field of psychiatry is in great flux. There has been an explosion of new information about psychiatric pathology and psychiatric treatments in the past 10 years and it is likely that the number of advancements will increase exponentially in the next 10 years. We look forward at being at the forefront of these advances and also look forward to sharing this knowledge with you.
