Dr. Omar Rahman
Omar Rahman is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Pediatric Neuropsychiatry at the University of South Florida. Dr. Rahman completed his B.A. in English from the University of Florida in 1993, later followed by M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Ball State University and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Purdue University. Dr. Rahman completed his predoctoral clinical internship at the University of Florida Departments of Clinical & Health Psychology and Psychiatry.
Clinical Interests
Dr. Rahman’s clinical interests include treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Habit-Reversal Training for Trichotillomania. In addition, Dr. Rahman has worked extensively with children with disruptive behavior disorders, general behavioral problems, and other anxiety disorders.
Research and Scholarly Interests
Dr. Rahman’s current research focus is in OCD, particularly in investigating the interaction of comorbid symptoms (such as internalizing and externalizing symptoms) on OCD impairment and treatment response. In addition Dr. Rahman is involved in clinical trials investigating the effectiveness of Habit-Reversal Training for treatment of Trichotillomania, and SSRI activation syndrome, under the supervision of Dr. Eric Storch and Dr. Tanya Murphy. Dr. Rahman’s research interests also include identifying key variables involved in the process of acculturation in individuals making cultural transitions, and how these variables affect psychological outcomes.
