Patricia J. Emmanuel, MD, FAAP

Patricia J. Emmanuel, M.D., received her Medical Degree from the University of Florida. She performed her Pediatric Internship and Residency at the University of South Florida in Tampa, where she was Chief Resident. She completed a fellowship in Pediatric and Adult Infectious Diseases at the same institution. She is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Disease. Dr Emmanuel is currently a Professor of Pediatrics and Division Chief of Infectious Disease at the University of South Florida, College of Medicine.

Dr. Emmanuel has been Medical Director for the University of South Florida HIV Program for children and adolescents since 1995. The USF Program provides primary and specialty care to children and adolescents in Southwest Florida. Dr Emmanuel is principle investigator for the USF Adolescent Trials Network, the Title IV Youth Initiative and the International Maternal Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials Group. Research interests include antiretroviral drug treatment for HIV, community perinatal HIV prevention methods and long-term complications of HIV. She has participated in NIH and industry-sponsored HIV clinical drug trials. Dr. Emmanuel participates in HIV policy making at the national level as a member of the Committee on Pediatric AIDS for the AAP and the HIV Medicine Association.
