John D. McCormick, MD, FACP, FAAP

Dr. McCormick joined the USF faculty in 2008 after six years in private practice. In addition to being a medical doctor, Dr. McCormick is a registered pharmacist, having majored in pharmacy as an undergraduate student where he graduated at the top of his class. Subsequently, he completed an internship and residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at USF, including a year as chief resident. Dr. McCormick is a fellow with the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP) and with the American College of Physicians (FACP).

Dr. McCormick has received several awards for his teaching and clinical skills. He is currently the Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Training Program at USF, where he is actively engaged in training residents and medical students.

Hugo Narvarte, MD
Internal Medicine - Pediatrics

Dr. Hugo Narvarte completed his undergraduate training at Duke University in 1996, and obtained his MD degree from the University of South Florida in 2000. He then moved to Houston, Texas for residency training in Internal Medicine & Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine. He moved back to Tampa and joined the USF faculty in 2005. His patient care interests include primary care in both general pediatrics and general internal medicine.

 

Denise Edwards, MD
Physician

Dr. Edwards is certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. She received her medical degree from the University of South Florida and continued on with her dual training in both specialties. Since joining the faculty at USF, she has had a primary interest in weight management for both children and adults and founded the Healthy Weight Clinic in 2007. This clinic is a multidisciplinary approach to eating disorders as well as obesity. Her other areas of interest are the metabolic syndrome as well as bariatric surgery. She is involved with the pre-operative assessment for patients undergoing bariatric surgery at Tampa General.
Brian Knox, MD

Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine & Pediatrics


Dr. Knox completed his undergraduate training at University of Kentucky and received a BS in Biology and a BA in Chemistry in 2002. Following that he attended the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and received his MD degree in 2006. He graduated with distinction and was inducted into AOA (Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society) during medical school. He then moved to Tampa in 2006, did his residency training in Internal Medicine & Pediatrics, and completed residency in June 2010. His patient care interests include primary care in both general pediatrics, and general internal medicine. Other patient care interests include wellness and weight management. He is originally from Winchester KY, where his family still resides.
Veronica Davis, DO
Internal Medicine - Pediatrics

Dr. Davis joined the Department of Pediatrics Division of Med-Peds after having completed her training at the University of South Florida Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency program. She received her Bachelor of Science at the University of Florida where she was a member of the UF Honors Society and National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She received her medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, FL. While at USF for her training, Dr. Davis served as the Chief Resident for the Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency program. She was also awarded the Gold Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award and was inducted into the Barness Behnke Chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She is currently a member of the American College of Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics, Florida Osteopathic Medical Association, and the American Osteopathic Association. She has developed a holistic approach to treating patients while focusing on creating a patient centered medical home. She has special interests in preventative care, women's health, weight management, diabetes, adolescent transition, and student and resident training.
