||Denise Edwards, MD|
Dr. Edwards is certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. She received her medical degree from the University of South Florida and continued on with her dual training in both specialties. Since joining the faculty at USF, she has had a primary interest in weight management for both children and adults and founded the Healthy Weight Clinic in 2007. This clinic is a multidisciplinary approach to eating disorders as well as obesity. Her other areas of interest are the metabolic syndrome as well as bariatric surgery. She is involved with the pre-operative assessment for patients undergoing bariatric surgery at Tampa General.
||Perry Kaly, PhD|
Dr. Kaly is a licensed psychologist specializing in clinical health psychology, and sport and exercise psychology. Dr. Kaly received his doctoral degree in psychology from the University of Florida in 1999, and completed internship and postdoctoral residency at the University of South Florida. He has advanced training in clinical psychopharmacology. His clinical practice focuses on eating disorders, weight management, bariatric surgery, pain management, adjustment to acute and chronic medical illness, psychodiagnostic assessment, and general psychotherapy with adolescents, adults, couples and families.
||Mario Rodriguez, PhD|
Dr. Rodriguez is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in health psychology and behavioral medicine. Dr. Rodriguez obtained his doctoral degree in clinical psychology at the University of Miami in 1995, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Pittsburgh Cancer Institute and Carnegie Mellon University. His practice focuses on integrative and cognitive behavioral psychotherapy with adults, couples, and persons with medical illnesses. His areas of special interest include coping with chronic illness, psychopharmacology, geriatric psychology, chronic pain, weight management, cardiovascular disease, and cancer.
||Michelle Albers, PhD, RD|
Dr. Albers has a PhD in Nutrition from The Ohio State University and is a Registered Dietitian. She has taught nutrition at Ohio State and the University of South Florida, authored articles and book chapters, and presents national medical continuing education seminars. Since 1988, in her private practices in Tampa and St Petersburg, she has worked exclusively with clients with disordered eating and eating disorders. She has been part of the Healthy Weight Clinic at USF since 2007.
||Brian Knox, MD|
Dr. Knox completed his undergraduate training at University of Kentucky and received a BS in Biology and a BA in Chemistry in 2002. Following that he attended the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and received his MD degree in 2006. He graduated with distinction and was inducted into AOA (Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society) during medical school. He then moved to Tampa in 2006, did his residency training in Internal Medicine & Pediatrics, and completed residency in June 2010. His patient care interests include primary care in both general pediatrics, and general internal medicine. Other patient care interests include wellness and weight management. He is originally from Winchester KY, where his family still resides.
